Strong Offshore Earthquake Recorded Near Southern Italy

(MENAFN) A magnitude 6.2 earthquake was detected off the southern coast of Italy late on Monday, according to seismic monitoring data.

The tremor occurred at a depth of approximately 247 kilometers (153 miles) and was located around 38 kilometers (23 miles) from the city of Cosenza in the Calabria region.

Despite the strength of the quake, there were no immediate reports of casualties or notable structural damage in the affected area.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, but initial assessments suggest the event did not cause significant disruption on land.
