Barge Overturns in Gulf of Suez, Claims Four Lives
The injured individuals have been swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, while rescue efforts continue, the ministry reported.
Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), disclosed that the accident occurred near Gabel El-Zeit, a key oil-producing area located approximately 209 kilometers south of the Suez Canal. He also reassured that traffic in the canal remains unaffected, as the incident took place outside the main shipping route. Rabie emphasized that the SCA is ready to work alongside relevant agencies to provide the necessary support.
The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources identified the ill-fated offshore barge as "Adam Marine 12," operated by Offshore Shukheir Oil Company. The vessel capsized earlier on Tuesday in the Gulf of Suez.
In response, the ministry stated that it is actively monitoring the unfolding situation and working in close collaboration with the concerned authorities and companies in the region.
A specialized team, led by Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi and Labor Minister Mohamed Gobran, has arrived at the site to assist with ongoing rescue operations, the statement confirmed.
